Ethan Thomas Gauchay

Our Little "E" returned to his Heavenly Father on April 12th. We had the wonderful opportunity to spend 7 wonderful days with his little spirit. It's hard, it's bittersweet. But we will cherish forever the time we were given to be his parents. After a long hard fight, Ethan passed peacefully in our arms. As hard as it was, we will always treasure those last moments with him. We had a beautiful graveside service with family and close friends on Saturday. We're so very grateful for the love and support that we've received through the difficult time in our lives.

I will hold on hope.

I'll find strenghth in pain.

I will change my ways.

I'll know my name as its called again.

WE LOVE YOU BOTH! I am so glad you had the week with baby Ethan! You are both so strong.

I love this quote:

"It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers."

The pictures are beautiful. What a special time of year it is that we celebrate and remember the greatest event in history. Christs resurrection. The "bands of death" were broke. Christ lives, and therefore we will live again. If we remember this, then it can make the sting of death hurt maybe a little less. You will be able to raise your baby Ethan.....someday....
Hang in there!
With Love,
Emily

Although it's so hard to say goodbye, I know Ethan is looking down on you guys and couldn't be prouder to have such amazing parents! He is yours forever and someday you will get to hold him and raise him in a perfect world where his body will be absolutely perfect.

Sharee and Geoffrey, thank you for sharing your story. I was bawling as I read it and Adam was crying for you too. I don't know what to say, but know that we are thinking of you and that we love you guys! I will always remember how you were there for us when we had our miscarriage. Please let us know if there's anything we can do for you (even from 1250 miles away). I don't know if you knew the Campbells from the ward in Logan, but they also lost a baby a while back, also named Ethan. Janae has written a beautiful blog that you may be interested in. It's http://ethanangel.blogspot.com/. Love you guys! You are truly incredible.

You don't know me, I chanced on your blog through Emily's (we were college roommates).

I'm so sorry. (There really isn't anything else anyone can say.) We had a similar experience last year at this time so I know some of what you are feeling. What a beautiful blessing to have had your son for a few days, you will cherish them always! Through everything I think the biggest lesson I learned was to trust in the Lord. It's amazing that His plan is so much better than anything we could imagine.
You are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love, Lynette Vance

Thank you for sharing your story. My heart goes out to you. I can't help but sob. I remember feeling so scared when the doctors told me that I was at risk for pre-term labor and such relief at each little milestone. I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your little family are in our prayers. I wish I could say or do something more.

Oh Geoffrey, I can't imagine what you and your sweet little wife have gone through this past week. What a beautiful baby you will get to raise in the next life. I remember you as a little guy and watching your sweet mother wishper story books in your ear during sacrament meeting....I remember her telling the story of the truck rolling and your arm getting broke and how worried she was about her little boy. I remember your mom craddling McKenzie in her arms as a brand new baby. I LOVE to think that your mother is once again craddling a baby...this little baby in her arms and loving on him in heaven. She will be a great caretaker for him until it will once again be your turn! My heart hurts for your family and you are in my prayers!

You had one special little man, just by looking at the pictures you can see his sweet, strong spirit. Hold on to the faith that Families are Forever. I love and pray for you!

Sweet Sharee and Geoffrey - tears are streaming down my face as I read of the trials you have endured. I have always admired your strength and sweetness Sharee and the tender love that you and Geoffrey have for each other. I read your beautifully written tribute to Ethan and once again admired your strength and the tender love that you and Geoffery have for each other and now for Sweet baby Ethan. I am so touched by the stories of the father's blessings and the knowledge that you will be an eternal family and hold Ethan in your arms again. My love and prayers are with you both.

You don't know me...I am sister to Tiffany, a close friend of Marissa. I am also a NICU nurse at IMC. I am so SORRY for your loss of beautiful Ethan. I know there are no words, but as a professional who has been witness to situations similar to yours often, I just wanted to let you know that your sweet baby will live forever in the hearts & souls of those that took care of him. I know you will never forget him and he will live forever in your hearts & be a part of your family. I don't know if it is helpful to know, but I am sure he will also be remembered by those people you enabled to be touched by Ethan & allow to care for him. It is our priviledge to meet these little souls & care for them while on earth.
You are in my prayers & thoughts at this difficult time.
